it's official!
I will be spending my year in Claremont, New Hampshire, representing AVAP at the Women's Supportive Services of Sullivan County.

There's not a whole lot in Claremont, and it's the second poorest county in the state. But I figure that has to be good for cost of living, and I didn't spend most of my life living in the middle of nowhere and not learn a few things about appreciating out-of-the-way places.

J will be happy when I tell her, since it's only half an hour from Dartmouth. Which will likely be where I do all my librarying, since even if they don't grant outsider cards I'll have an "in".

My mother and I are going TOMORROW to look for a place for me to live! I personally could do with putting it off a few more days, but she's adamant and I guess it'll be good to get it out of the way.

Craziness, all 'round.

But yeah, Claremont was my best interview, so I think I'm pleased, although Keene was good too, and that made me very much in favor of the crisis centers in general over the prosecutor's offices. Just a vibe, and the feeling that the crisis centers are way more about direct service, which is why I'm doing Americorps in the first place, so. I get to be in court everyday, anyway, so that's cool.

Anyway, I think I'm excited, although now nervousness is setting in, but - mostly excited, really. It will be good to be on my own. It's good that things have worked out despite earlier setbacks. I'm excited to REALLY live on my own for the first time.

Still worried about potentially no cable. Wonder if I can guilt trip my father into paying the bill? That's assuming wherever I end up even has cable, of course.

Sigh.
