So about a month ago Sarah sent me the Garden State soundtrack. Didn't see the movie, but the soundtrack was lovely. And on it were these two little songs that seemed innocent enough. But they were damn insidious little things. Subtle little hooks like you wouldn't believe, and now I'm addicted to The Shins, in a total lusting fangirl way. And they soooo are not my type of music! They're boys! They're all shimmery and uptempo! And they pose for gayboyorgy pics like my new icon! (larger version here) Well that last part isn't unusual in its appeal. But still.
I only have their first cd so far. It's such crack I feel I need to get my full hit's worth before I move on to their latest. I wish it were longer, but otherwise it's freaking perfection on a shiny disc.
Was a totally bad student and went to a bar tonight, but oh wait it was totally professor-approved. Practically mandated. Because they had to be there too. Serving us drinks! Ha! And my torts professor (who I actually adore, but to dwell on that would destroy the irony that is to follow) even called on me today, and she is the only one of all my profs who makes us stand up when we present our briefs, so even though I did fine, it was inherently kinda ew; and then I got to go make her mix up a cosmopolitan and a kahlua and coke for me. The point of the thing is actually NOT to torture our professors (that is just the bonus) but to donate the tips they make to the AIDS walk. So you know, it's just a good event all around.
Tomorrow is Thursday, which makes me happy because even though I have four classes I get to end the day with study group, which is a sad indication of the state of my social life right now, that study group=good times. It does though, actually. It frequently involves arguing our diverse conclusions as to what some topic actually is about, and arguing is always fun, and in this case you either get the pleasure of being right, or the loveliness of coming to a clear solid understanding of some concept that you wouldn't have otherwise gotten.
I am really a geek. But that is okay. I have embraced it.
