Libby is currently the most pathetic thing I've ever seen. The poor girl has to wear one of those cone collars. She is very much not happy with this.

She's been dealing with an upper respitory infection since a few days after I got her - not really anything you can do about those, as they're viral, as long as they're eating and drinking, which she is. But then last Friday the URI led to conjunctivitis in her right eye. Mostly she was squinting, her third eyelid was a little red and inflamed, and she was obviously uncomfortable. I took her in on Saturday, and we got some ointment prescribed. Then yesterday, the eye got MUCH worse - it's basically swollen shut now. So I took her to a new vet today (MUCH closer, and I like this place a LOT better in terms of service, thoroughness of examination, etc.) and he thought it could well be due to the fact that she kept scratching (with her razor-sharp claws) at her eye and rubbing it. So, we've got a collar. She does not seem to understand that it's for her own good, though.

And through it all there's the ringworm! Lovely, nasty stuff. Amazingly, none of us humans have caught it yet, but Libby clearly needed a more aggressive treatment. So she's going on oral meds for that, plus she gets an antifungal shampoo once a week. And I turn into the apartment-disinfecting Nazi.

This cat has brought untold amounts of stress to my life. And yet I would not trade her for anything. If I'd known two weeks ago what I know now about her health, I'd still pick her all over again. Through it all she is the sweetest, most affectionate cat in the world. I love her dearly, and cannot wait until she's all healthy and happy.
