I did not go to work on Friday after all, which made it My First Sick Day Ever. I actually was going to go in just for the morning, to do the case review and finish up a few other things, and then leave early to go to health services. But when I dragged myself through the chilly rain to the train station I was greeted with the news that a tree had just fallen down on the tracks between the station and center city, which meant a delay of at least two hours, so I took that as the sign it clearly was and turned around and went home. And then to health services, where they gave me antibiotics for what is apparently a sinus infection. Today I woke up finally feeling better, which has improved my mood MOST significantly.
I am so desperately broke. I am almost amused by it, or would be if I weren't worried about checks potentially bouncing at the end of the month. It won't really come to that - I think I'm going to just scrape by - and if not my mother will loan me the money; I just don't want to do that. I'm supposed to get my security deposit returned when Melissa's new roommate pays hers; that check would put me completely in the clear if only I knew when I could expect it. But my loans don't come through for another six weeks or so. And I paid double rent this month. Which was certainly worth it, but the trade-off is a wee bit of financial stress.
Happily my train-phobia appears to have mostly passed.
But my Neko Case obsession has not waned. (Nor should it! She is a GOD.)
I'm excited that come August N will be a mere 20-minute train ride away.
I love my new apartment but packing/moving is as much a pain in the ass as it ever was. More so, probably, as I've more stuff now than ever.
