It's been a good week to remember why I do NOT want a second cat - first all the vomit, yes, and then today the vet, and oh my lord, Libby does not like cars. Or stress of any kind. Meowing, then panting, then drooling, then diarrhea - this is the cat I presented to my vet.

I like my vet, but next year I might look into seeing if any vets around here do house calls. This experience was just all kinds of unpleasant for both of us.

Hmm... I wonder if they were to give you some of that kitty valium stuff if that would calm her down enough to where she wouldn't be so freaktified on the drive over. Just a thought.

Of course, that reminds me of the "How to Give a Cat a Pill" joke that's been floating around the internet for years...

Good friends of mine in Florida swore by a "mobile vet" in their area. Apparently the guy worked out of his van and would just go from house call to house call, performing whatever minor procedures needed to be done. I think it's a brilliant idea - your pet's not freaked out by a weird environment with other (new) animals, you don't have to drive anywhere, your pet's more comfortable at home. I hope you find someone!
