Yuck - the brown stink bugs have started their full-scale invasion attempt again.
I had 'em last year about this time too. They're bad for a few weeks, on sunny days (they migrate around the house with the sun) and do their best to make their way inside. And then, because a) they stink and b) they're too big for me to want to squish anyway, I have to do the cup-paper-release method for every single one. By the end of the month they go away, but one will show up every few days all through winter, probably ones that got into the walls during this phase and were just getting around to wandering out.
I spent an hour peering at the windows and plugging up all the spots it seemed like they were getting in; hopefully that'll help.
I mean, everywhere it's something. In New Hampshire it was flies; they invaded my sun porch and, while they couldn't really get into the rest of the apartment, the sheer number of them was GROSS. I'd kill 'em all with Raid every few weeks and vaccuum them up but more would come to take their place. Luckily they left in spring, so I was actually able to enjoy the sun porch during the season it was meant for.
In Bryn Mawr, it was ants. And apparently mice, but only after I (and Libby) had left.
And there was no end to the vermin and pests when I lived in the woods.
Only at Smith, actually, was it insect and rodent free. I think I saw maybe one spider the whole time I was there. And it was a puny little thing.
BUT, I will put up with the stink bugs without further complaint just so long as I NEVER EVER EVER see a centipede again. And I'm pretty grateful not to have to deal with cockroaches. Mice, well, with a cat I don't worry about mice much. I'm not saying Libby would actually be capable of catching one (she's pretty damn lazy), but I think just the presence of a cat helps keep them away.
