I've named the iMac Freyja, for the Norse goddess. Because Freyja is, among other things, the goddess of beauty, and my Freyja is beautiful indeed. And that she is goddess-like goes without saying. And I liked the idea of making it a Scandinavian name, since my Freyja's all white and sleek and modern and Ikea-like.

One thing I worried I'd have a hard time getting used to with OS X is the way windows don't maximize to fill the whole screen. But I got used to it in about an hour and now I prefer it, to the extent that when I'm using the windows laptop I resize the screens to make them look more like they do on the mac!

I also LOVE the expose feature - it's a great thing for multitaskers like me.

I'm also enjoying Apple's mail client. My only other experience with onboard mail clients being outlook express, which I find slow and awkward and a total resource hog. Apple mail is clean and light and user-friendly. And iPhoto does a really impressive job with its "enhance" feature; for the few photos the enhance didn't quite work for, one of the other effects features usually does the trick. I don't love the way it keeps everything in the library even once I've sorted stuff into folders, but I'll get over it. I use flickr more for picture organization anyway.

The onboard speakers are also surprisingly good.

Anyway, one day I'll write about something other than Freyja. But right now I have to make something to eat and then Supernatural, yay!

ETA: I complained about Flickr uploader's incompatibility with Intel Macs a few days ago. I searched around and found jUploader, which is a pretty good alternative, plus it's nice-looking and so far runs smoothly.

I love that you named your iMac Freya. A friend of mine insists she's going to name her first daughter Freya. I told her to be sure to get her karate lessons, too.

The name works reeeeally nicely with the iPod, though. :)
