Dear Heroes,
So I have been watching you since your first week, which is a RARE RARE thing for me - I usually come so late to shows it's ridiculous but also kind of fun because then I get to have a massive catch-up-a-thon, whee! But I knew you were going to be awesome right from that first episode despite your having qualities that usually annoy the hell out of me - a huge cast, "big mysteries" driving your entire plot, etc.; somehow you have managed to avoid what usually makes those things so aggravating (::cough:: Lost, I am so looking at you). Plus I love you for giving Milo Ventimiglia a role in which I can actuallyadore & worship like him! And Hiro! Is it even worth babbling about Hiro, when the rest of the Heroes-watching population has done it to death already? Yes? Okay! HIRO NAKAMURA I LOVE YOU!
But with last night's episode you have upped the ante to INSANE LEVELS - you introduced my absolute FAVORITE plot device ever - martyrdom! Nothing else manipulates my emotions quite like good old-fashioned self-sacrifice!
Nikki turning herself in to the police so her - whatever the hell her alter ego is can't hurt her son and D.L.!
Eden shooting herself so Syler can't get her (admittedly SCARY) power!
And omg, Peter's vision! In which, if I am not mistaken, Nathan was totally about to fly Peter-the-human-bomb away so it can't explode in NY never mind that they will both still be killed DEAD! *cries*
