Today I actually got out of the apartment and, as it is Wednesday, went to work for 5 hours. By the time I got home I was dizzy and shaky, but also heady with a sense of accomplishment. Sometime during the past eight days I'd become convinced I was NEVER going to get better; I was incredibly frustrated at having so much of my vacation wasted by this stupid illness; I needed to be reminded that, while I am still not at 100%, I'm tons better than I was a week ago, and also, that what I've been doing while sick - watching an embarrassing amount of television and tv shows on dvd - is not very different from what I'd have done if I'd been healthy. I certainly can't say it hasn't been a restful vacation, anyway. I think I've paid back about a year's worth of accumulated sleep debt.
I was at the pharmacy last night to pick up some Benadryl (allegedly it's better than cough suppressants for the night-time dry cough that's been plaguing me; in actuality it knocked me out so early I couldn't say whether it worked for what I got it for or not) and the otherwise quiet Rite-Aid was a madhouse in the cold products aisle. Apparently the holidays are hazardous to *everyone's* health.
I looked at my schedule today and realized I have to face *four classes* when I go back to school on Monday. They're all irritatingly spaced one hour apart, too, so the day will be long and I won't even have time to go home between any of them. Stupid planning on my part; it's a good thing they all look to be interesting.
