just the way that we do
Really, though. What would the world lose if I just dropped out of life and became a Panic groupie? I could default on all my loans! Go off the grid! Hitchhike and rob American Apparels from New York to California! I would be an awesome groupie.
Seriously, I need something new to look forward to, quick, or I'm going to waste away with post-Panic what-is-there-left-to-live-for-ness.
The other acts, at least the ones I saw, were pretty good too. I'm a big fan of the Hush Sound anyway, and they are lovely! Greta is so pretty! They really needed to turn her mic up, though - she kept getting drowned out. That part sort of sucked.
(Speaking of the Hush Sound, I only watched the "Honey" video for the first time yesterday. I don't know why I didn't watch it before! It's awesome! A lot of music videos sort of make me cringe - even ones I also love - but this one's just really good! I like when videos mostly use the band members, rather than other actors no one cares about.)
Motion City Soundtrack - okay, so, their fans are kind of hilarious. The highlight for me was watching Jesse rock out on his keyboard, occasionally turning to a rather more stoic N and saying "OMG how is he so AWESOME?" They were good - very high energy, very strong playing, but mostly they sounded like their albums. Which is perfectly fine. They sound good on their albums, and it translated. I prefer live music to sound different, though, mostly.
Which is (a bit of) why Panic sounded so AWESOME. (Well, and the harmonies were mostly in key, thank you, Ryan and Jon - youtube had me a little worried about that.) I LOVED the way they reworked their old songs; "But It's Better if You Do" in particular was AMAZING, god. And, y'know, to be fair, the new songs have so many other instruments in their album versions that they sort of have to rework them a bit to work with just guitar-bass-drums-keyboard. I was really impressed, though.
The "banter" was mostly the same as what I'd read it was at other shows, with some added comments about the crappy weather, etc. Also the Ryan-plays-his-tambourine-in-Brendon's-shower-that's not-true-justkidding! bit, that was new as far as I know. Maybe it's not new, maybe it's just that no one else was as amused by it as I was. And Ryan told a joke. Something about "Behind the Sea" and how, hey, WE were all behind the sea! Cue dramatic gesture over to the Delaware River (Festival Pier is not *actually* a pier, but it is on the waterfront). Which made me love Ryan even more because that is exactly the sort of really lame joke I tend to make.
In real life, Brendon's smiles are even more amazing. That's all I can say about Brendon, because otherwise I'll start to sound like those scary teenage girls who were holding up signs asking Brendon to marry them. I don't want to marry him. I just want to watch him smile and spaz around the stage and listen to him sing forever and ever. Yeah okay. That's still scary.
In the end. Panic at the Disco is all about love. They love doing what they do, and it shows so much, and I hope they stay in their dorky hippie stoner looooove phase forever, or else move on to an equally happy-ridiculous one. PANIC=LOVE. That's all.

it's the saddest thing! I am so *bereft*. I'm looking forward to our absinthe night rather more than I would otherwise, because at least it's something, yes? maybe I'll hallucinate the show all over again. or maybe I'll just get a migraine. (I totally had a migraine on Saturday. and it was TOTALLY WORTH IT.)

i remember thinking when i was a kid that there SHOULD be a place to look this stuff up. even stuff like when a certain band was going to be on saturday night live. sometimes TV Guide just didn't have all the info., and there was no way to look it up...
once i looked up axel rose in the encyclopedia, even though i knew he wouldn't be in there. but i was just hoping, you know?! i did learn a little about pete rose, though.

(I hope Ryan tells a (lame) joke at your birthday show! Seriously the highlight of the philly night.)
