Bleh. I'm tired.
Buffy: Liked it, mostly, in a fluffy sort of way. I am decidedly not pleased with the Willow developments, and I *still* don't think it's in character for her, despite attempts to make it plausible with a few references to her geek background thrown in last night. Or perhaps it is plausible and I'm just annoyed in principle. Either way, I can tell the storyline's going to irk me.
The Dawn parts were all right. I like Dawn, but I don't particularly care much for seeing her in her high school glory. The high school days have passed, let us not return. Though I did like the twist thrown in - I can definitely say I wasn't expecting the vampire bit.
Huh. I didn't even dislike the episode, I just found it riddled with flaws. But I did enjoy the Spike/Buffy interaction in the beginning - I'm amused, if disconcerted, by Buffy's recent reactions to Spike's presence and unintentional innuendo; she reads like a girl with a crush. If the previews are any indication, there's going to be some Spike/Buffy-age afoot next week, though the musical aspect may render any developments in that department moot.
I'm still looking forward to the musical, silliness and all.
Roswell: Holy shit, I *loved* this episode! I *liked* last week's a whole lot - I've been holding back with the endorsements because the sting of last season's disappointment is still fresh. But I see a definite return to - something. This isn't the same Roswell as two years ago, but it's shaping into a reasonable facsimile.
One of my favorite moments in season one was the scene at the end of "Into the Woods", when Valenti visits his father for the first time in ages and feeds him pears; it was such a telling moment, back when we were still fairly unsure of Valenti's motivations, and I was always disappointed that they just let it go. Disappointed, but not surprised; this is Roswell, after all.
I think it's much easier to enjoy this show when not terribly invested in it. I don't care about any of the romances, I don't care much about the storylines, I'm only watching out of a deep, lingering affection for some of the characters (namely Kyle, Valenti, Liz, and Isabel). I'm sure, if I wanted to, I could find all the flaws - particularly in mythology/consistency - but I just don't care. I'm enjoying the show again, and that's enough for me.
Happy happy note: FX is showing XFiles reruns again, after a few-week hiatus in which I went quietly insane. I don't even necessarily give my full attention to the reruns when they're on, but I take great pleasure in having it on in the background. Even if it is fictional, there is something deeply comforting in knowing that Mulder and Scully are out happily saving the world, again and again and again.
Linsey pointed out the online schedule of classes, so I'm frantically trying to figure out what to take. The European Revolutions class was apparently dropped, which makes me sad. I wanted so much to study the Russian revolutions. I'll have to find a good book on the subject and study up on my own time.

It's a great song anyway, even if it is not "the" song in question.
